Its what the doll represents , like I said white people just don’t get it.
Then please explain it.
And yes, I think by posting this you are a racist
But why? Tinsel never said anything remotely racist.
15 December, 2016 at 8:57 pm #1011743I should clarify my previous post with the fact that I don’t think that any individual word can be offensive, it is the intention with which the word is used that causes the offence. I don’t really understand the attempts some people make a language policing, there is no evidence that a word itself can cause harm. And banning a word does not prevent the intended meaning from being expressed using other words.

15 December, 2016 at 8:46 pm #1011742Let’s get one thing clear from the off: the term golliwog is offensive.
Well them, I guess you can explain to me, precisely, why it is offensive. Because so far you have only said it is offensive because you feel it is.
The fact that so many white commentators have deigned to tell me they don’t find the term offensive only makes matters worse.
How do you know what race people are?
so when a white person tells me he doesn’t see what the problem is, well, am I really expected to take him seriously?
That seems a little bit … racist?
But unless you have been spat at, kicked or had eggs thrown at you, all while being called that hateful term, it is unlikely you will ever understand why a small doll causes such a big fuss!!
Can you name a specific case where this has happened? Of all the things you could call someone, gollywog seems like the last thing that would be used.

15 December, 2016 at 1:09 pm #1011707There are many many sites like this on the internet…aimed negatively at many different nations…..where are u coming from? Is it only a site like this you find ACTUALLY racist?….I’ve had worse than that throw at me regularly over the years from the chat room
I just discovered that site, so I thought I would share it here. I find their articles pretty funny personally, athough they are not meant to be.
A nation isn’t a race though, so i’m not quite sure what you are on about.
With some of the posts you put up and the trawling of the net you do I would hate for special forces to seize your pc
Why? Is reading things illegal?
15 December, 2016 at 11:06 am #1011698I found some actual racism for you
15 December, 2016 at 10:57 am #1011697you are always saying that you lack a sense of history, of historical knowledge.
You are always assuming I lack knowlage that I have, of course I know about Jews having to wear the star in Germany.
My point is that I don’t understand why it is acceptable to label anyone against their will, or even to make them think that they should do it voluntarily.
I cannot believe that Labour, or even UKIP, would force deaf people to wear badges. Labour may have wanted to make badges available from the NHS???
The way that the BBC described it made it sound mandatory, but their reporting is aweful.
Although Momentum is very authoritarian in their views, and they are the ones keeping Corbyn in the driving seat. So it wouldn’t supprise me that much if it were true.
14 December, 2016 at 11:56 pm #1011689really? I’m deaf (hard of hearing, actually, I have some residual hearing), and I have been deaf for many years now. I think it may be a good idea to have some sign saying so. The reason is that being deaf is an invisible disability, not really taken seriously. However, it really is quite a serious handicap.
That’s what the BBC said a few weeks ago at least, although I don’t trust anything they say. I understand why giving badges to deaf people would be a good idea, but also can’t really see what logical critera you can use to define why its bad for muslims that doesn’t also apply to deaf people.
People might discriminate against muslims because of the badges? They could do that to deaf people too. Ect.
There is also the issue that some deaf people don’t want to wear a badge, but they are required to by law. Do you arrest them for being illegally deaf?

You then set a precedent for mandated labeling of a group, which opens the door for labeling other things. Do you label people’s sexuality? Party membership? Religion?
