Employers, I believe, cannot discriminate because of a persons faith but they do have a duty to ensure the safety of their employees. In this case, I agree the employee should be reassigned to a less high risk job.
I think the employee should be fired in this case. He acted irrationally, and endangered people’s lives. Religion isn’t an excuse, anyone who intentionally dehydrates themselves and operates heavy machinery should expect the same treatment.

He did it because he’s a muslim though. It’s also the reason he got away without being punished.

If it’s racial, then i’m also a muslim. I’m 1/8th Moroccan.
Does that mean that I get to endanger people’s lives with no consequences too?

9 July, 2017 at 7:28 pm #1059895I never mentioned race ! “I said singling any one group out is called racism”. As I said too perhaps his employers should of allowed him to take leave or moved him to a less dangerous jobs. The employer obviously knew he was Muslim.
Racism requires race to be involved in the conversation.
Regardless, Islam is not a race.

If the worker in question was not a muslim, and still behaved in the same way then they probably would have been reported. How can you describe this in any way except for special treatment?
We live in a multicultural society these day. Singling any one group out is called racism.
Nobody mentioned race, why are you so quick to bring it up?

In one breathe you complain your words are personalized by others and in the next breathe personalize your own comments. Doh. Must be that Ph.D. Linda has experienced nothing on this site, on these boards, in full view, publicly aired, compared to what this poor lad endured. To suggest otherwise and you have, makes of total mockery of his death and the bullying that led to his death.
Asking Linda for evidence of abuse is directly contradictory to thinking the Duluth Model is a good thing, and that everything counts as violence against women.

You are welcome to disagree, but I don’t see a conflict between a bully enjoying what they do, and them deliberately targeting people who they think are vunerable.
Although I don’t think they do it for enjoyment, it’s usually to feel they are in control. Usually because some other aspect of their life is out of their control.
