I have no real moral problem with the retribution of state executions. Mine is purely a practical objection. While there was obviously incontrovertible proof in this particular case, the law doesn’t demand that level in all cases; simply that the case is proved beyond reasonable doubt. Back when we had the death penalty innocent people undoubtedly went to their dooms. Similarly, since we abolished the death penalty, there have been cases that would have resulted in executions, had that sanction still stood, where the people were later found to be innocent.

That is the only thing that makes the death penalty unconscionable to me.

    I apologise in that case

Anyway I’m for the death penalty in certain cases – as well as it being dependant on the level of proof
I can’t understand how folks can argue that the death penalty is any more inhumane than putting someone in SC for ever on bread and water . To me that’s more inhumane and a total waste of money

good riddance to the dirty b’astard

    i have nothing to declare
    but my stupidity

    … Indeed you don’t.

    ask alf inge haaland
the aforementioned bas’tard should have been banned for life

Ask Bobby Park – who had his legs broken twice in the same season – by the dirty Leeds Bstrds – Bremner and Giles – finished his career

It happens Kev – Keane was a brilliant midfielder – any team would have had him in his prime

FFS Bass what planet are you on ????

If there are laws about indecent exposure it’s perfectly reasonable to make laws about offensive slogans on clothes too!!

If anyone can be offended by a slogan on a T shirt – then I think they are in the wrong country altogether
Apart from that – who would control it – the Police ???? it’s totally unworkable

I used to get embarrassed when my daughter wore some of her FCUK T shirts at her grans (my mothers) – but I’m sure she just did it to wind us both up

But to make laws about it – your gonna get on very sticky ground – I personally find Newcastle United T shirts and strips offensive !!!

northern delicacy??? yorkshire must not be too north then :D

never in my life have i met anyone in yorkshire who eats pigeons :-…

if i ever do, i will kiss the french flag and make a new thread stating that eating snails is a socially accepted thing to do.

the two most evil acts of treason a Britisher could ever make !

(but it’s ok.. because never has the topic of eating pigeons popped up in a pub so my Britishness is pretty secure!)

FFS Thomas – Yorkshire is deep South !!!!!!!!!!!!

Only Northumberland , Cumbria or Scotland can be counted as North

Oh and I spotted this one today Emma – it’s a real cracker. Owen is going to just love it.

Does anybody remember the wonderful New Labour mantra of ”education education education”??? Do you remember their fantastic new initiative designed to give 16 – 18 year olds an incentive to stay on in Further Education??? No ???

Well it was called ”The Connexions Card” and was implemented under contract by New Labour’s best friends….. Capita. Basically it was a reward card scheme that awarded ”loyalty points” to students to be spent on such necessities as CD’s and designer clothes etc. The idea was to bribe youngsters to turn up to lessons.

Sadly only 54,788 took up this gimmick – sorry, offer – instead of the promised 1,700,000 and the scheme was officially closed this week by Beverley Hughes the children’s minister and declared a failure. Oh dear what a shame !!!

Still some good came out of this failed initiative. Capita earned the princely sum of £66.14 MILLION and they are due another £41.48 MILLION on top of that even though the scheme has failed. Easy way to make £107 MILLION eh?

BTW New Labour supporters – just so you can compare – this amount would have provided more than 3,300 new teachers or 250,000 new laptops or alternatively replenished understocked school libraries with 10 MILLION new text books.

You’re spot on PB – it’s about time this sad so called government was removed – it’s all part of their European Superstate pipedream – orchestrated by the likes of the abominable Mandelson

Personally I think you should return to work – and try and resume as if nothing had happened .
This will force your bosses – or whoever is behind the strategy’s hand

As far as friends at work go – most aren’t real friends – if they think their job might be at risk by supporting you – very few will do so

The correct , quickest and most effective way to kill pigeons is to snap their necks

Pigeon pie is lovely – a Northern delicacy
