Firstly I wouldn’t lend them money , I may gift it if I felt generous and the circumstances deemed it necessary say , a sick child etc. I would not just hand the money over but actually see to where it was going.
If the person made any threats ,,lol “thats black mail” id say fck it go ahead tell the world we have met.

I still say open the churches
That seems like an easy answer, unfortunately it isn’t that simple. You get good and bad people amongst the homeless as you do amongst the wealthy. There involves a lot of personnel that would be required to oversee and make sure people don’t cause trouble like vandalism, rape and abuse so people would have to be separated .Showers and bathrooms would need to be installed, that would elevate the cost of heating and water and electricity. all red tape. I do agree with you this could be done Nemesis but how many people do you think would volunteer to take this task on? From experience I have to tell you few. And if you have to employ people to run shelters in the churches the cost may not be covered by church funding… It isn’t impossible its just not many have bothered and some who have I know in Aus have encountered many obstacles which has made it difficult and thus have not perused it. Wrong in my opinion as life is more important but that is what happens.

11 January, 2011 at 11:19 pm #459067On behalf of my Aussie counterparts facing terrible times, I thank you for your kind thoughts. I am fortunate enough to be in a safe place but I have many friends who are now facing hardship through loss of homes and businesses. None of my friends luckily have lost their lives , but I know there are those today who are facing such an ordeal.
I love the Aussie Spirit , they are in the midst of climatic chaos but still they laugh. They still reach out to help a neighbor and just get on with whatever needs doing. I’m so Proud to be an oz.
As a nation we will be OK because we know how to band together and move forward when times are tough. This wont break Australia it will just make us greater.
To all the Aussies that post here chin up Mates :)
