Love Sonnet 55
Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone, besmear’d with sluttish time.
When wasteful war shall statues overturn,
And broils root out the work of masonry,
Nor Mars his sword nor war’s quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory.
‘Gainst death and all oblivious enmity
Shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room,
Even in the eyes of all posterity
That wear this world out to the ending doom.
So, till the judgment that yourself arise,
You live in this, and dwell in lovers’ eyes.23 July, 2008 at 2:30 pm #33451023 July, 2008 at 2:25 pm #35687023 July, 2008 at 2:04 pm #165988panhygrous

Fans of His Satanic Majesty, for instance, would take more issue with the notion of (in no particular order) pride, envy, anger, sloth, greed , gluttony and lust, being sinful, than they would the concept that a cloven hoof up the rectal sphincter causes ruptured piles; whilst worshippers at The Max Mosely ‘Achtung! Kindly Shred My Tadger With A Cheese Grater!’ shrine, positively promote’ lust’ as their singular motivation, and ‘sloth’ on a day when they can’t be arsed fumbling through the kitchen drawer for anything more wieldy than a teaspoon.
I, however, have voted for ‘Wrath’ as the deadliest sin, simply because I’m capricious. Tomorrow I may be greedy for ‘lust.’Oh..I also have a great affection for Bosch’s work, but my greatest passion remains for the Breughels. Pieter with an ‘H’ and the rest of the family without. ‘The Fight Between Carnival And Lent’ for always producing a hidden gem, and ‘Winter Landscape With A Bird Trap’ for catching even my summer breath on its snow-borne air.

Oh the Air was shining
Shining like a wedding ring
Barbed like sex
I felt 10,000 volts
My chest was full of eels
Pushing through my usual skin
I opened up new wounds
Pouting, shouting-Oh Love — like liquid falling
Falling in cascades
Oh Lovelorn victims
Laughing in cascadesThe Sun was rich
Rich with a song of sin
My breath melted my words
Into strange alphabets
Tormenting my tongue
Pouting, shouting –Oh Love — like liquid falling
Falling in cascades
Oh Lovelorn victims
Laughing in cascadesThe heartbeats were echoing
Echoing the revolver
Emptying into my mouth
I pulled a face from my pocket
And smiled a Leper’s grin
I felt somebody close
Pouting, shouting –Oh Love — like liquid falling
Falling in cascades
Oh Lovelorn victims
Laughing in cascades -
