If a high proportion of internet users are folks who use the facility as a means of socialising when other means – owing to illness or disability – are closed to them, then it stands to reason that there are going to be a substantial number of deaths.
I would hope that if you ever find yourself breathing your last under the wheels of a runaway truck, Sian, the announcement of your demise on the JC boards isn’t met with the derision you seem to currently deem appropriate.

The beauty of an hotel as opposed to a B&B, is the relative anonymity and privacy with which one can go about one’s business. When staying in B&Bs, I was always aware of being in someone else’s home, and having to tiptoe around, observing proprieties. In fact we once got..erm..ejected from a B&B when a member of our party got blind drunk and fell asleep in the bath, leaving the frantic owner to break down the door.

Actually, PB and old “sour ar.se sian” if JC was an essential and important part of the life of the lady in question – Paige – then it IS entirely feasible that in her final hours she wanted desperately to communicate with her online friends in a last burst of reality/normality and human contact before taking that last final and unknown journey. For all you or I or anyone else is aware, her online family may have been her only one.
Folk would do well to stop examining everything from their own limited experiences. There are stranger reasonings and fathomings out there beyond our ken. A little kindness given, ain’t gonna hurt, but cynicism only withers miserable hearts even further.

Some say that longevity can be attributed to the fewer brain cells we use up in a lifetime. Which being the case, D.O.A. the thick pummer can look forward to immortality.

think people are missing the point here, the reg is probably still alive and kicking, give it a week before we see a new user name floating about, they can re invent themself again

So, I take it you live in some kind of Shangri-La where people seldom get ill or die? Lucky old you. The cynicism on this site, is astounding, and before citing cases of folks who have faked their own spectacular demises only to resurface under other names, may I point out, that it’s better to honour each claim at face value – let karma deal with the liars and frauds – than to denigrate and debase the genuine loss of a board member.

Thing is, Dreamsprite, I appreciate what you’re saying, but it isn’t that simple. Some of us can’t walk, and don’t have available public transport, and some of us can’t wait for an ambulance to take an hour or more to reach us. I desperately need our big 4×4 so-called ‘gas-guzzler’ to transport me and my paraphernalia in event of emergency.
My hubby offsets things by producing his own bio-diesel, and we grow most of our own veg. But to be honest, I think the whole ‘carbon footprint’ malarkey is a big fat con.

Unless your name is John, an unusual moniker for a chapette, it’s still plagiarism. Someone else’s work presented as your own. An old trick of yours and, if my ‘dodgy’ recall is correct, the reason you first started directing your spite my way. Didn’t like being found out, did you? Still, your Munchausen syndrome isn’t really your fault. It’s not beyond me to let you have your fantasies uninterrupted, I suppose.

“All research turns to plagiarism.” Henry Fenn. Where relevant to any debate, it’s necessary to read, absorb and expound. I’m not so proud that I don’t seek and assimilate the views of those I admire, and John Foster is a man with a finger on my own political pulse. I’ll nick his commentary anytime, and will continue to do so if the need prevails.

And shame on you for your Munchausen accusation. Shame on you.
