Matty has given HIS point of view about how HE would like HIS life to be. Who are you to tell him otherwise? He didn’t mock anybody and certainly never asked for you to dictate to him on the general disregard of the elderly. If anybody is missing the point I feel it is your good self.

And I know it has always been difficult for you to control that nagging Scottish temper of yours but do try and refrain from the personal insults in your replies. A woman of your advancing years should have a little more restraint don’t you think.

I think you’re doing a great injustice to people..elderly or otherwise, Matty..for whom the physical restraints of age or ill-health bring experiences every iota as valid as your own (presumably)active ones. The soul and the spirit don’t necessarily change on becoming encased in sinew and skin raddled by sickness and/or time, and a life spent even in solitary contemplation is as real as one spent abseiling down mountains with a pack of robust companions.
