(Albert Schweitzer)‘If only we’d stop trying to be happy we’d have a pretty good time.’
(Edith Wharton)And then there’s the wonderful George Burns’s take on the subject..
‘Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family…in another city!’ :P21 September, 2008 at 2:37 pm #373635@sharongooner wrote:

That was Noels Christmas Presents Sharon. It always used to make me cry too. Do you remember the one where he arranged for The Hollies to play in this old guys back garden? I was in floods of tears fgs lol.
Jeezuz..I’d be in floods of tears if an old !960s popular-song-combination turned up to nonce around in MY petunias.
Although..I DO love this..

21 September, 2008 at 2:08 pm #373425Happiness is not a state of being but a fleeting transient thing which people aspire to – little realising that the true gift lies in contentment.
As these guys will tell you..
Abd Er-Rahman III of Spain:
I have now reigned about 50 years in victory or peace, beloved by my subjects, dreaded by my enemies, and respected by my allies. Riches and honors, power and pleasure, have waited on my call, nor does any earthly blessing appear to have been wanting to my felicity. In this situation, I have diligently numbered the days of pure and genuine happiness which have fallen to my lot. They amount to fourteen.
(960 C.E.)
Albert Camus:
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
