I know Pete, i was as shocked as clearly you are. The problem seems to be that the so-called experts took the mother’s word for things without digging any deeper – God knows why.
All this rubbish about “lessons can and will be learnt” seems pretty pointless when they clearly AREN’T being learnt and an innocent child is dead in consequence.
Yes I also listened to the reports today including some in depth interviews with the legal and medical people involved…. including the Judge that compiled the report into the Victoria Climbie killing that occurred only a few streets away from this poor child.
It appears that the child’s mother is at the heart of all this. Apparently she lied persistently to everybody about what was going on in the household, to the extent that a Police spokesman said that they had no idea that she had a ”partner” living with her. She covered up everything and constantly offered a variety of stories to explain how her child kept having bruises etc all over it.
It was also said that parents involved in persistent and continuous abuse are extremely clever at concocting lies and suchlike to disguise their crimes.
It was only when her child had been killed (i.e. murdered) by her lover(s) that she finally confessed to the catalogue of abuse to which it had been subjected. She had been visited over 100 times in the previous 3 months alone by doctors, nurses, social workers etc etc and it seems that none of them were aware of the true situation inside her house and which she expertly covered up with lie after lie.

Not voting off a singer would take all the competition out of the evening, as all the singers would know they were safe for that evening at least.
Also the organisers would miss out on all that lovely dosh that comes from the fees they receive on every telephone vote and mobile text message.
I have an ever stronger feeling that Alex might well be the 2008 winner. she is becoming more and more assured and has a lovely personality.
I have to fully agree with Dawny’s comments about Rachel. She seems to have a really bad and aggressive attitude to everybody doesn’t she?
I have a feeling that you’re absolutely right blackkettle. Laura has been seen by millions of members of the public for several weeks now – publicity that money simply couldn’t buy. My guess is that she will be offered a ‘contract’ – assuming that she hasn’t been offered one already.
I can’t agree with the negative comments about Ruth. I felt that she was an incredibly powerful and passionate singer that really put some feeling and emotion into a song, rather than just belting it out. For the life of me I simply don’t understand why both Laura and Ruth were in the last two – it makes no sense at all.
Acrually, I hope that Diana does go. She is beginning to be irritating with her affected hand gestures, lack of shoes and the ‘little girl’ silly singing voice.
i agree that Daniel is probably not a winner and his constant allusion to his dead wife is getting a bit much – too much playing for sympathy and not enough singing quailty.
We shall see eh?
They’re all obsessed with the vids of Barak Oklahoma. Give him the usual honeymoon and then the lefty US president bashers will be on him like a pack of ravening wolves.

Seems AOL is rerouting me via another country cus they had problems here. Thus if AOL is your ISP then because of the way they access the internet, you will always look as if you are a US based user.
