I think ive sussed it out. Its all to do with social standing isnt it. The higher up the class ladder one becomes the more your sense of humour disintigrates. Why didnt I think of this before…. #-o
I wonder if it is geography not social class, that causes this disintegration of the sense of humour???
For instance, I have noticed over the months that people of the ”Northern persuasion” (and Scots in particular) seem to take themselves far more seriously than those who live in warmer climates (i.e. nearer the South ). After all the Scottish Presbyters brought gloom to millions, and of course Scots are notorious worldwide for their natural meanness.
Could it be that these characteristics have slowly percolated south of Hadrian’s wall as the Scots interbreed with the rest of the world??? Maybe the longer hours of darkness have a part to play???
This is a subject that ought to be explored further before this infection spreads too far.

the people of scotland don’t deserve anything :)
They have Lady Esmeralda and he well known sense of humour. That ought to be enough for anybody.

5 January, 2007 at 4:36 pm #255276OMG !!! Not more technical advice !!! Look Batface, I am with BT as well and I have never had a day’s problems with them. It simply HAS to be you !!!
If you can’t press the bloody buttons correctly, how on earth do you expect the damned telephone to work.
This technology stuff is quite clearly beyond you. Just pour lighter fluid over it and set it on fire.
5 January, 2007 at 10:51 am #255183There is nothing like waking up in the morning and the first thing you read is a diatribe from a Scottish puritan lashing out at those who wish to take life less seriously than they do.
Anything that smacks of poking fun is to be instantly stamped on with howls of outraged indignation. Humour is sin. Frivolity is the pastime of the Devil. Everything must be seen in shades of black and grey.
I suppose that this is only slightly worse than the all-embracing gooey niceness of viewing life through pink marshmallow glasses. If it moves hug it.

4 January, 2007 at 1:49 am #254822Worse still …. what if you live in sunny Eastbourne??? You know the saying “Dover for the continent, Eastbourne for the incontinent”.
The place is simply crawling with geriatrics – which is why it rejoices in the name of ”Costa Geriatrica”. Everywhere you go there are Hell’s Grannies and Grandpas carreering around at a nippy 5mph on their mobility scooters.
Why shouldn’t they be allowed to pop down to the seafront for a bit of fresh air and a few bevvies??? Grab a curry on the way home and back to bed with a nice cup of Horlicks.
How cruel would it be to confine them to their cold garrets with no entertainment??? Surely you can’t penalise the poor old buggers and deprive them of the little amount of pleasure left to them???
