Nice theory – but his symptoms don’t support it. Typically nausea, vomiting and paralysis occur some 24 hours after ingestion. This guy presented with his symptoms several days after he was ALLEGEDLY poisoned and didn’t include the typical presentation of Fugu poisoning.
In any event, and given the fact that he apparently ate in a Sushi bar, this would have been amongst the first things they would have checked.
How about this for a theory:
He hated Russians (allegedly) and was part of a group that would do anything to discredit them (allegedly). Maybe the entire thing was a set up and he was sacrificed (knowingly or unknowingly) to maximise the bad publicity for the Russians?
The Turkey gobbles ….. you stuff it ….. you gobble it … and then it stuffs you. Sounds like fun!
BTW, what happened to Hamburgers ‘woman’, I thought that al US citizens had to eat them daily as a mark of their loyalty to the flag???
As always in these matters, this is a media driven issue – the need for an ‘instant story’ with scant regard for the facts.
APPARENTLY he was poisoned. Initially it was DEFINITELY Thallium – it must be true because the media said so. Then it was redioactive Thallium – again this was the ONLY thing that could explain his symptoms …. again because the media said so. Now nobody seems to know what it was that poisoned him and suddenly the media aren’t so certain anymore.
His symptoms no longer stack up with Thallium OR radioactive Thallium poisoning – but hey, why let the facts get in the way of a good story???
Initially it was the Russians, well it just had to be didn’t it? The media said so therefore it must be true and anyway they have done it before …. because the media said so.
Poison was DEFINATELY put in his food in a Sushi bar where he had supper with a couple of mysterious characters and they MUST have poisoned him there …. because the media said so. Now it seems that he met some other Russians or whoever for breakfast in a hotel and THEY must have done it mustn’t they ….. because the media said so.
If the media stopped presenting hysterical hype and rumour as proven fact, chances are that the REAL perpetrators of this apparent crime might be caught – but hey … that doesn’t sell papers does it?
If the Russians really wanted him dead, wouldn’t it be a lot easier to simply arrange a bullet in the head and blame it on a street robbery that went wrong. Maybe an ”an overdose of drugs or similar …. either way this would have avoided all the unnecessary adverse publicity.

Oh yes … silly me I quite forgot this as an option. So your typical Mk 1 uninsured and possibly disqualified driver is naturally going to meekly drive home (possibly many many miles away) and Mr Plod is going to follow him home to see his (or even her) non existent licence and insurance. Yeah right – like that’s going to happen.
Apart from anything else Emma dearie, if Police ‘allow” a driver to drive home (i.e. give him / her their permission to carry on driving) when he/she is disqualified or has no insurance etc, THEY also commit an offence. Duh !!!!!
