Driving at “speed” actually requires MORE concentration than driving “slowly”. This is because at “speed” you have substantially less time to react to a situation than if you drive “slowly”.
As a result of having to react far more quickly, the need for concentration is far greater, so the statement that more accidents are caused by slow driving is another “urban myth”.
As to the point about high speed driving in Germany. I have likewise done a lot of this and I have found that German drivers are far more arrogant in style and far more “pushy” than their UK counterparts.
That said, they seem to have fewer accidents on balance but when they do have one – it is usually massive involving several vehicles and severe disruption.
I guess that at one level, they deserve all they get …. and yet at another level it is a tragedy from which loads of ‘innocent’ people suffer.
I think I’d hire an old fishwife (as a cook) for a while …. so I’d get some nice seafood suppers.

The main lies told in chatrooms (especially in PC):
1 – involve the user’s age, (why is it always so much younger than reality? 25 and up for it usually means 55 and past it.)
2 – or the size of their ‘appendages’ (men are always uncharacteristically enormous – 9inches or, God help us, even more; and women’s breasts are always big and never small; or ‘firm’ and ‘shapely’ but never like Spaniel’s ears)
3 – or their bodily proportions ( men are always ‘fit and women are always ‘petite’ or ‘slim’ and neither sex ever has a pot belly or big hips & bum.).
4 – Married men always say they are single and never ever think about a bit on the side do they?
5 – Married women always say they are divorced or separated but can never take phone calls in the evenings.
Yes I also wondered of the two things are linked.
It does seem mightily coincidental that the Israelis chose the last few days of Bush’s presidency to do their thing with Hamas – especially as an outgoing President with only a week or two left in office would hardly be likely to undertake a major new initiative in the Middle East.
Whether I am right or wrong on this, it sure was a cute piece of timing by the Israelis – and Hamas must have been spitting nails.
So these “Hush Puppies” are basically a sort of deep fried batter blobs without any particular flavouring. YUCK !!!
In the UK – Hush Puppies are a brand of crepe rubber soled suede shoes – also known colloquially as “brothel creepers”.
Now if you want to slightly alter your recipe to give it far more flavour – and add an authentic Italian touch to it – try this.
Find some ‘fiori di zucchini’ (or courgette flowers if you prefer the English name) and take a handful of the little yellow flowers and mix them into the batter (as above) and cook them in the same way.
Now THAT tastes yummy !!!!
