– is it possible, only slightly possible maybe, that this display of immoral behaviour is a consequence of having females ordained as priests???
Some of you may recall that when females were originally eligible for ordination, there were many voices amongst the priesthood who expressed grave comcern.
Now we have the spectacle of drunkeness, fornication, and possibly even greater depravity in the priesthood.
Can this simply be a coincidence ….. or are there darker forces at work here???
What swines the Church Ecclesiastical Court are …. but you may well be right Esme. The female deputy (Elaine Northern) only got 12 years as well whereas her male partner (James Tipp) got a lifetime ban. Hmmmmm.
That said, we may have uncovered evidence of ageism here as well. James Tipp was 63 so a 12 years ban would have made him 75 …. long past his retirement age.
A life ban means that the bastards avoid paying him his pension. Just kick him out to rot for an innocent bit of ‘rumpy pumpy’. Hmmmmm yet again.

Dear Technically Baffled,
There is a simple solution to your issue which is a work around that Microsoft themselves have suggested. This involves the use of Microsoft Word and is effective with all versions of Word (2007 or ’97 – 2003) and constantly displays the power status of your computer.
1. Open a blank Word document, ensuring that it is fully sized i.e. covers the entire screen.
2. Using 72 point Bold type (Arial or Times New Roman will do as your typeface) type in the following (excluding the quotation marks):
“MAINS POWER SUPPLY IS ACTIVE”
3. Save the document to your C: drive and then leave it open and fully displayed on the screen. DO NOT minimise this document as you will no longer see the power status display if you do.
Whilst the mains power to your computer is OK you will see the above notice displayed.
Any time that mains power is either disconnected or fails, the power status warning display will vanish – thus alerting you to the problem.
We sincerely hope that this is of some small assistance to you.

Would that it were true Esme – but sadly we shall be stuck with the lovely Gordon and his assortment of advisors for some time to come – or at least until we are all bankrupt.
It’s not considered fashionable – indeed it’s verging on heresy – to be a “global warming denier”.
However, I am instinctively uneasy when the ‘great and the good’ involve themselves in enormous gabfests and worldwide agreements, conferences etc etc to collectively moan and groan about the state of the planet etc. (i.e. Kyoto to name but a few).
Inevitably this results in higher costs and higher taxes on everybody – which of course may be the whole point of the issue.
I do not believe in global warming, I think it’s complete rubbish.
