Well I don’t think it’s wrong to hate the English Football (and Rugby) team with a passion. I certainly do. As far as we Scots are concerned they are our biggest rivals and it is more perverse for a Scot to say they want England to do well than it is to say we hope they get stuffed every time they take the field. You wouldn’t think it perverse for a Man City fan to say he hates Man Utd and you wouldn’t expect a Chelsea fan to want to see Arsenal win the European Cup – they wouldn’t be proper fans if they wanted to see their rivals do well now would they? I agreed with much of Geoff’s post on the Murray thread – I like to see British club teams and individuals do well at any sport and I would cheer them on as much as any Englishman (unless Scotland were represented of course). I remember cheering for Coe and Ovett and Cram and Bruno and Liverpool and Henman and Faldo and that rower bloke and countless others and will continue to do so but I will NEVER EVER wish the English Football team anything other than complete and utter humiliation. And the more you rubbish us and our game and say you see France, Germany and Argentina as rivals above us, the more I want to see you get taken down a peg or two. It’s not politics, it’s not bigotry – it’s football. And England are SHYTE btw…
Isn’t Sealand in Scotland’s group for the 2008 Euro Championships? The pitch looks a bit tight but I reckon we could take a draw back to Hampden…
STUTTGART (Reuters) – Aggressive and intimidating behaviour would not be tolerated, a German police chief said on Sunday, after more than 520 England fans were held in the two days before the World Cup match against Ecuador.
Assuming the “4000 total arrests” figure is correct, I figure that AT LEAST 13% of all those arrested are English (at least, cos these 520 are just those from this weekend). And this is when they are WINNING games remember…. we all know how they react to a defeat. To be fair, most arrests have been for drunkenness and intimidation rather than acts of violence and many of the real troublemakers have been kept at home.

YES – all is fair in footy banter. Mary, I find if you turn the tv sound to Radio 5 commentary when watching England games you don’t get quite the same amount of drivel and the microphones don’t pick up the moronic chanting of the English rabble (is it The Great Escape theme tune that they sing over and over and over again??). FFS don’t they have any SONGS?

I flicked back and forth between the two games but quickly settled on the Australia game – glad i did, they were really good value for that result. The referee was a complete tit – lost the place altogether, got almost every major decision wrong and generally gave nothing to Australia at all – even more pleasing they got through then! I did tip Australia as my outsiders and I can see them going further if they play like that again (as long as that bottling goalie is left on the bench).

Quite right Jigsy, I was in your country once (Quebec) and these two ignorant twonks in the hotel started speaking French ffs. The people in the lobby were too scared to complain but I went up and told them to stop being so ignorant and speak fecking English OR ELSE but they just ignored me. I think one was a customer but the other was the fecking bloke behind the desk!!!! The manager threatened to call the Mounties to come and have ME arrested ffs!!!! They even put French on the television and on all the fecking menus just to annoy me – what is THAT all about! They should pi ss off back to Frenchland where they belong :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
