I agree that Novo should have played, I expected his name to be one of the first on the team sheet but unless he went 442 which has been very shaky for us this season (look at the Dundee United games) then there was no chance. Davis is a difficult man to drop in that position.
I watched the game with my dad and we both thought that, if he was playing a five man midfield, Dailly would be playing the holding role ahead of Hemdani. But hindsight is a wonderful thing. Walter’s bound to look at this campaign as something he can realistically hope to build on next season. And I reckon he’ll have more depth next year, having Burke, Naismith and Beasley out injured long term hasn’t helped so with a few new faces he’s bound to be confident. His tactics often baffle me and tonight was unfortunately the night when it didn’t pay off.
Like I said, I’m still happy that I got to see my team in a european final.
