I know that you couldn’t bear the pain of watching me try to find some sparkle in those who are stupid, cruel, and inept. Because you knew I looked for a reason. But I know that you waited in the hope that I would discover the truth that weeds choke and thorns tear ~ and it is best to leave those killers of the soul to rot. Forgiveness is a good thing: it cleanses the soul. But one cannot make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.

At the end of it all the fox still ends up dead – whether it is poisoned; shot; or killed by a pack of hounds.
I have a real difficulty is supporting the same argument when it is applied to hare coursing or stag hunting, as these activities seem to serve very little (if any) practical use. In any event, the hares and stags are not classified as vermin and do not do anywhere the same amount of damage that foxes do.
a load of toffs charging round the countryside with a pack of baying hounds is not vermin control
