PB’s Early Summer Review
The old man is at it again

As we move into the long hot summer months, with the prospect of every Barbecue in the UK being rained off or flooded out, what have our intrepid Message Board members been occupying themselves with last month?

Clearly a lack of hamburgers, hotdogs and greasy grub and a change to some seriously healthy eating has slowed down the usual contributors, but we are delighted to welcome several new additions to our happy band of posters. Unfortunately, things have been uncharacteristically quiet and peaceful.

We have had one or two minor spats – reserving user names being amongst them. It would appear that we have a major investor who has delighted in reserving a number of user names and as a result has put the occasional nose out of joint. This was generally deemed to be hilarious and only caused a little controversy.

In Just Chat Site Help, we also were plagued with users who were unable to access the chatrooms from time to time. Paying their electricity bill or even switching on their computer seemed to cure most of these issues.

In Current Affairs and Serious Posts, the recent Glasgow airport bombing took pride of place and Just Chat played its part in assisting with the launch of the new internet hero, John Smeaton. His down to earth approach towards troublemakers coupled with his threat to ”banjo” any ‘bad boys’ marks him out as ideal ChatGuide material. Look out for ChatGuideJS – coming your way soon.

As expected, when the subject of unmarried mothers came to the fore recently, Just Chat users came up with several unique solutions to this problem. We expect the government to make a new policy announcement shortly – and you read it here first.

We also had some very interesting views on a recent NHS proposal to offer cervical cancer injections for 12 year olds whilst at the other end of the scale, a Judge’s sentencing of a child rapist seems to have provoked fury.

In the Political Chamber, after several changes of name, a thread has finally been named “PB stinks”. Now we all know that this is totally untrue (Really??? – Ed), particularly since the topic is all about the coronation of Gordon Brown. In fact the recent change in Prime Minister appears to have been the main focus of this Board last month.

General Gossip has spawned the usual collection of surveys and appeals – all of which have been unceremoniously kicked into touch one way or another. Our users are nothing if not generous and caring. The Just Chat Village Idiot and the Official JC Moron have been pretty active on this Board in a vain attempt to amuse us all. We have had loads of offers of ”meets” from London to Glasgow via all major towns and cities in between. Yes, Just Chat is becoming truly international.

In case you were thinking that we only have idiots and morons on this Board, one of our longer serving and dare I say brighter members tells us that she has achieved a Desmond in psychology (Desmond Tutu = 2:2 degree). Certainly a psychology degree is just what’s needed when responding to some of the users.

The Technical Talk Board seems to have been a bit quiet this month. We had a request involving changing the language on a computer. Apparently the user was unable to swear satisfactorily as the spell checker kept on suggesting odd corrections. It turned out that he had set the core language to Serbo-Croatian and the spell checker to Mandarin. Bill Gates has a lot to answer for – but we fixed it in the end. The JC Village Idiot somehow managed to acquire a brand new Blue Tooth device but without the user manual. So far he has yet to discover the ‘On switch’ – but we all live in hopes.

The STD Clinic has had very few patients this month and an unnatural calm has broken out. This cannot be healthy and bottling up all those disputes will only lead to trouble in the long run. However, we have had the occasional and totally meaningless contribution from the Goat Walker, which has kept at least two users up beyond the watershed.

The Polls Board has again been generally peaceful but we were able to welcome the return of our old friend Adeboje Mwambi from Nigeria (joined in June 2005). This was thanks to the Official JC Moron who started a poll seeking assistance for Adeboje in his continuing quest for a wife.

This poll actually provided us with the funniest one-liner of the month. “Inside every fat woman is a skinny one screaming to be let out. Fortunately, you can shut her up with a bag of chips.”

And finally – the Forum Three Board has developed a thread with numerous users posting their mug shots so you can finally see the real person behind the user name.

OK, that’s it for this edition of the Just Chat Newsletter. I am off shortly on my annual act of marital penance to Italy so that I can be forcibly stuffed full of pasta and re-introduced to horse’s heads, courtesy of cousin Luigi from the Sicilian branch of the family.

However, and assuming that I survive the experience, there will be some more monthly highlights of the month next month to brighten up your month – and remember – we care!

Probably, BM, because the parents amongst us are sick and tired of the Media feeding frenzy surrounding this whole incident. We have endless pictures of the grieving mother, we follow her even into church and watch her being blessed by the local priest ffs!!!!

We see the Police being subjected to constant Media criticism and openly accused of everything from complacency, through gross incompetence, to professional negligence.

It’s all getting a bit too much. The public seem to be prety consistent in their view (as expressed by the majority of posts on this thread) which is that the parents were utterly and grossly negilgent by leaving their children alone and unattended.

i am gettinf highly pi$$ed off with reading it however if it was my daughter i think id want all the publicity to help her be found

Now we see every effing day yet ANOTHER theory from the Media being presented as fact. It’s almost as if the Media want to be the ones to solve this matter and they’re all hysterically tearing around to beat the Police to it.
