20 September, 2008 at 12:16 pm #201038If you have young(ish) children, and don’t mind driving abroad, then I’d highly recommend Duinrell, Wassenaar in Holland.
Plenty to do, but relaxing as well. Kids love it. Parents/Grandparents can do as much or as little as they like. Accommodation varies from Tents to Static Caravans to Chalets, and can be had at quite reasonable prices. We’ve been twice, and both times sailed from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, which leaves only a one hour drive when you dock. Alternatively, you can sail from down south into France.
Added bonus??? The Dutch Pancake Houses!!!! Yummmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!
:D

20 September, 2008 at 12:01 pm #363230Forever Autumn – Justin Hayward
The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you’re not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you’re not herelike the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew awaythrough autumns golden gown we used to kick our way
you always loved this time of year
those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
cos you’re not here x 3like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew awaya gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
as if to hide a lonely tear
my life will be forever autumn
cos you’re not here x 620 September, 2008 at 11:58 am #373115I’d hire a school hall, c/w kitchens, invite everyone from JC, and make lots of Meat and Potatoe Pies with a huge tupperware box full of Red Cabbage (even though i can’t abide the stuff), and provide lots of beer and wine, and let you all get on with it
Afters? It has to be custard pies… just right for the ensuing food fight!

I hope my daughter never asks me! I’d have to say NO! (got a few years yet before I need to worry about it…..! Phew!)
