Happiness is seeing the little snow clouds disappear off the weather map and the temperatures getting into the positive just in time for my drive to Kent…. Please????
I heard on the news this morning how our heros and brave soldiers in the war zones are missing out on christmas with their families, and at first my emotion was one of ‘aww what a shame’. Then I stopped and thought about it, and began to wonder…. There is no forced national subscription to join the armed forces, these people are in the forces because it is the life they want, it is the career they chose for themselves knowing full well how much active service there is in the world and how likely it is they will go to a war zone.
Go back to the recent world wars… they were brave heroic men fighting for their country and parted from their families under duress out of a call of duty given to them without option.
Whilst I have every respect for our armed forces and I truely am thankful for the job that they do in protecting us, I do question how losely the term brave and hero is applied these days.
I love the way, how with an arguement raging on nearly every thread, some people simply rise above it and try to take the thread back to its original purpose. Thank the Lord (oh and that’s my Lord by the way – you can get your own to save any more arguements)
I drove 8 miles today, I left my house in North Tyneside where the local council has made no attempt to clear the roads of snow, down a dual carriageway with only one lane open and it being just car tracks, onto the A1(m) which is maintained by the Highways Agency I believe, again this was running at 20 mph and was tracks only. I came off there into Newcastle council territory where my mum lives and guess what?? Beautifully clear roads, ploughed and gritted! Shame all the councils are not the same eh??
