infinity isn’t a paradox although it can create paradoxes. Infinity just means that something is without end. Although we don’t know that something we describe as infinite really has no end or boundaries, its so big we can’t tell.

A paradox is something that contradicts logic. It cannot happen but it has. Like someone who goes back in time and becomes their own mother. That creates a paradoxical situation because it defies logic. You cannot really be your own mother or father after all, logically, can you!

I do not beleive in “God” but I do beleive in truth and the divine, I don`t follow any religion but I do have faith.

In the big bang hydrogen formed, it combined and cooled with oxygen creating water, that for me was where life started, atoms clustering together to form new elements. I beleive that when we die, our self awareness dies, but us, our atoms, our energy cannot be destoyed, it just changes.

It has been discovered that the structure of a brain cell is the same as the universe, I`m thinking about that one, suggests a lot of possibilties for me.

As for the question where did it start? There isn`t one, nor is there an end for me, it`s eternal.

I’ve heard that analogy before, and also the atom one, about each atom resembling a solar system. I think that there are echoes throught nature. Similarities. Its neat and tidy. Apart from the random chaos parts that is.

erm I don’t think thats infinite, i think thats parallel

nope it’s infinite somewhat similar to the monkeys typing shakespeare if there are infinite universes then anything that can happen will happen… at least thats the theory

An infinite number of universes is different from saying one universe is infinite. And a parallel universe is one that is similar to this one and could contain an earth, with an England with a Pete in it. Though that Pete may not behave exactly as you would.

I do like the idea of infinite possibilities, though i think a monkey would still chew the keys off a typewriter in most of them.

If you believe that the first element had to be created, then I think it follows on that you also have to believe that the entity who created the element had to be created. It’s the old chicken and egg thing again, but I still think it’s an important point.
A lot of people would also say that DNA is just the result of natural selection acting upon random mutations, and that no intellegence is therefore required for it.

Considering humankind and all creatures have the ability to procreate i find your comments hard to accept…why the need for such a process if matter can randomly come into life through a chance mutation……..largely, mutations known to humankind i think are to the disadvantage of the host and not evolutionary :?

    How wrong can you be.

Did you know that people who survived the Black Death in the 1300s in Europe had their DNA changed as a result of having the plague. That changed DNA was passed down through successive generations. Until the plague in the 1600s. People who had one parent with the changed DNA survived the plague and those with both parents with the changed DNA didn’t even catch the plague at all.

AND people who have the changed DNA apparently can’t get full blown AIDS even if they become HIV positive!

People from Africa and other continents who didn’t have ancestors who survived the Black Death have no protection to HIV and therefore they are more likely to get full blown AIDS.

    and thats just one example!

As for matter just coming into being…………….what the heck do you think scientists say created the universe?

When I read the report, that was my assumption Nem. Not many normal people walk around threatening to break windows
