I seem to remember a film where a deathwatch beetle featured……….when it starting making that clicking noise it meant someone was going to die! Practical Magic I think it was called.

Its a different kettle of fish when it is minors who are the perpetrators. I think we have to deal with that as a different issue. There are lots of youngsters involved in the rape and sexual abuse of other children, but if we get into that we will cloud this issue which is to bring back stiffer sentencing for adults who sexually abuse, torture and murder little ones.
Have just had a look at your links jen and they look like a good place to start for wording. But they just say life should mean life and… “tougher sentences” its all a bit vague. Should we be as vague? Or do you want to be specific?
For people like Vanessa George who abused her position of trust as a nursery worker, for people who deliberately get into working environments to get close to children so that they can harm them (like Ian Huntley), for people who become foster parents and then foster children so they can abuse them………….for those people I would like to see them get life. Even if they do not kill the children they have given those children a life sentence as none of them ever forget. We have to have tough sentences for these kinds of people.
For people who rape babies and toddlers……….chemical castration and life sentences which mean they are inside for a long time.
For people who have sexually abused and killed children, chemical castration and a life sentence that means they stay inside for ever.
Ok, that is my first attempt. I have not really looked at what people like Ian Huntley got yet, so will do some research and then adjust things a bit. I have strong feelings about the use of chemical castration, but i don’t know the figures in this country for its current use.

Chemical castration is the administration of medication designed to reduce libido and sexual activity, usually in the hope of preventing rapists, child molesters and other sex offenders from repeating their crimes. Chemical castration is generally considered reversible when treatment is discontinued; in the case of Depo Provera, “no permanent physical change is wrought in the body.”[2] Castration has, from time to time, been used as an instrument of public and/or judicial policy despite concerns over human rights and possible side effects.[3][4]
The drug cyproterone acetate has been commonly used for chemical castration throughout Europe. It is similar to the drug MPA used in America.[4]
In the 1960s, German physicians used antiandrogens as a treatment for sexual paraphilia [4]
On September 25th, 2009, Poland passed legislation for forcible chemical castration of child molesters. [19]

I will get as many friends as possible to add their names. Only thing i’m not sure of is using real names in this environment. What about a facebook instead. We could set up a facebook account maybe, then it will get thousands of people joining.
We just need to make it a strongly and clearly worded petition.
I agree cath, life should mean life… no release for good behaviour, no putting them in open prisons so they can escape…. in prison until they die.
But….. we need a petition or something that we can sign and not something that is emailed round the world forever, a proper one that someone can print out and send in to the Prime Minister or the Home Secretary or .. hmm who should we send it to?

Identifying woodworm is easy as tiny holes, know as flight ‘holes are left all over the timber, saw dust may also be present below the timber. The ‘holes are left behind when the larvae of the beetle exits the timber, these ‘holes are normally 1.5 – 2.0 mm in diameter. There are more than one species of beetle which cause woodworm one of which is called the deathwatch beetle.
Well i think it might be deathwatch, but I am no expert and Kenty and Susie might be right and its slugs, snails or rats!
