i disagree bon. george best got that liver because of his celeb status…..and he was being treated by his own private doctors in a private clinic. any nhs hospital or liver surgeon working in one wouldnt dream of giving a new liver to an alcoholic.it would have gone to someone who desperately needed it for health reasons beyond their control.not self inflicted ones.

thing is pikey….when i pop into my local chemist for my prescription and ave to queue bhind the ex druggies waiting fa their dose of methadone while they pick at the scabs on their arms and faces and abuse the ever patient nurse doling it out….i think..well wheres the queue fa the free nicotene patches an why do we have to stand an listen to their sh.it………whilst people who need medication for illnesses beyond their control sit patiently snd say nowt.

i abhor drugs .always have.made no pretence of the fact when me and smiley went head to head a long time ago on a similiar thread.
but i’m also a hypocrite….i refer to drugs as spliffs…coke.heroin…e/s….uppers.downers…an anything else people swallow sniff or inject to make their night out go with more of a buzz.
yet……………i smoke…..and i drink.
i dont think i drink enough to end up like george best…..but i’m certainly in line for lung cancer or any other cancer caused by nicotene.

so back to peaches…..how many 18 yr olds have £150 to go to a dealer and think nothing of it except a rollicking from daddy when he opens the news of the world…..or the kid next door who will pinch his mums catalogue money…..rob the old lady down the road on her way back from the post office……..go theiving to order….

Pat’s this is all true, you say you you could never drink to excess usch as George best, who knows, nobody knows, if you were to do it regular enough your body would crave it, alcoholism is a mental and physical craving.

I will sympathise with and form of addict, I still drink and smoke, I can’t be a bigot, I know how easy it is to become addicted and I feel for those that try to stop but they haven’t got the will or the way, this is my only arguement. Narrow minded people are a form of addict themselves, they won’t let their minds open to others misfortunes and be sympathetic.

i get what your sayin sian. i’m just trying to see it from both sides. a former addict will have sympathy for an addict……having been there got the t shirt. like i said i’m a hypocrite.i drink.i smoke.yet when i see people swallowing pills..sniffing charlie.ect..just to get that extra buzz i cant understand why.
when i go out the drink .music and company is enough……i dont need to do the rest. and yes.that last fag b4 i fall into bed….an that first one in a morning is probably doing me just as much harm.
