    Hi from Paula,

The blue screen error message on a computer can be difficult to diagnose.

The first job I would do if I had a blue screen message is to remove the side panel from your computer and clean out the dust. There may be a temperature related problem with your computer components overheating. The weather may play a part with the problem. I have an electronic weather meter near my computer to judge the indoor air temperature and the possibility of unstable weather, especially when temperatures are approaching 30 degrees centigrade.

When your computer starts, it goes through a POST test (Power On Self Test) which is designed to check the communications between the motherboard and all the computer components. You may have motherboard failure or a failure with your RAM (main memory) or hard disk failure. The hexadecimal code returned by the blue screen is a memory address which tells you nothing about the exact cause of the problem.

If you think you have a problem with one or more device drivers, try reinstalling the device drivers from the disk supplied when you bought your computer.

If all fails, the most cost effective solution is to take your computer to your local computer repair shop.

    Regards Paula
