    My quote for the day…

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

Sorry esme {{hugs}} but you get me?!

She had a major op only 2 years ago to have her eye removed and she isnt pleasant when she visits the vets now. Only one vet understands her, the rest are scared (not that she has ever hurt anybody), but the threat is there. I mean if your eye was bursting with infection and pain would you not lash out at somebody wanting to poke you about and hurt you even more?

It was an awful episode, and Ive not took her for her immunisations this year to give her a break, but she is well protected anyway afte having them every year anyway.

Animals have such short lives anyway, I want hers to last as long and as painfree as possible, but my wee heart is going out to her at the mo.

Our first ever dog had to have her eye removed, I was only very young but i still remember it vividly..coming home with my family one day and our little pup must have got into a confrontation with our cat (who was a bit of a bruiser!) and her eye had been scratched. It was late at night, and I remember we all piled into a car with her and rushed to the Rspca hospital, sadly her eye couldnt be saved, but she was fine in the long run bless her.

On the other subject of the “baby”..personally I’d let her keep the toy if it gives her some comfort. If you take it away she will only pine after it, and that will be more upsetting to watch.

I read what you said about the annual vacinnations, and I have to say, ive done the same with my cats. They had all their main ones when they were kittens and they had a booster..but after they were neutered, the one cat had a panic attack at the mere sight of the cat carrier. When we finally managed to get her inside she was hysterical..frantically clawing to get out. Well it was more than I could bear. I know its best for them if they have their yearly injections but I havent got the heart to put them through the ordeal of taking them there and back as it causes them so much distress. When I read Esmes comment about her dog been spayed it reminded me of their op. I bawled my eyes out when I had to take them..my bf and the vet staff thought i was mental! I tried to wipe my eyes before I went in, but im sure they knew! When I got home I set about cleaning the house from top to bottom like a woman with OCD, I couldnt stop!..just because I was in a panic. I clock watched all day, and the minute the vets rang to say they were ready I dashed straight there to pick them up. I dont know whether it was more of an ordeal for me or them! A week later when they had to have their stitches out, we had such a game trying to get them in the pet carrier as they knew what was coming! After all that, the vet snipped ONE stitch on each cat and said, theyre done! I was like OMG tell me we didnt just go through all that for one stitch!!
