All that’s happened, I reckon, is that the semi-final uncertainty has been removed. He was going to get t’sack for quarter-finals or worse and he was going to leave if we won. Only a defeat in the semis would have seen him carry on anyway.
The mood is definitely for an Englishman to replace him. I can’t see an Englishman about with the right experience, bar possibly Robson the elder. Perhaps we should follow Holland and Germany and go for an unproven former international superstar. We’ll see how it goes for them in the summer.
