I suppose God is as good an explanation for the start of the universe in the absence of any other compelling theory, Manners. However, it occurs to me that is precisely what God and gods have always been – an easy way to explain away difficult subjects. The province of God, in that respect, has been getting smaller and smaller as time has gone by. He, She or They is/are needed less and less.
That said, though, there is absolutely no evidence that God or Gods was/were involved at all and, so, it must be regarded as an article of faith, rather than an explanation designed to fit the facts.

Oh dear. Is this hounding? Very poor. I was expecting a better level of hounding. But, ok. I would set the label at something less inclusive like Salafist terrorist or extremist or radical or whatever.

I reckon there may be a grain of truth to it. By identifying a Muslim community, which doesn’t seem to exist in actuality, and then further insisting on attaching the adjective Islamic to the bad guys, be it followed by terrorists or radicals or extremists or whatever, don’t we force Muslims onto the defensive? Couldn’t we find a label that sets these guys apart from ordinary, law-abiding Muslims and thereby isolate them for the common good?
We never used to insist on calling the IRA, for example, Catholic extremists or attaching the label Catholic to every news report that concerned them.

By the way, I don’t reckon Carrick is worth that much. There’s always a premium on British players to big clubs, though.
I don’t want to break up the general bonhomie and desire for a just and lasting peace, but Emma did intimate non-western people were ‘alien life forms’.
