Well yes, the accent thing can be confusing for many Americans. Most don’t understand me when I say my name (Martin). I have to repeat myself about three times and I can tell that most of the time they still have no clue.
As for Yanks who hate the Brits – I’m sure they exist, but I’ve yet to come across any. I’m sure they’re in the minority.

I’d not heard this one before, but I was flicking through a book in the ‘survival handbook’ series for parenting and at the back it had a list of parental phrases to learn…

Having lived in the States for the past 7+ years, I can tell you this – Americans love the Brits. Mainly for the accents. Oh, and I’d say the royal family is more popular in the US than in Britain. Ironic, really.

I do like a bit of John Oliver – not such a fan of his constant yelling though, which is a bit distracting. Still, he offers probably the best take on news (besides PBS) for audiences in the United States. That in itself is a little alarming.
