Daggs it’s like saying English Football has a Racist problem or a Hooligan Problem.

Both statements would have been true 20 years ago, but they are not true today to the same extent. Both problems have been mostly eridicated.

Maybe bigotry up here hasnt quite been eridicated, but big progress has been made, and within a few more generations it will have been.

You cant honestly say that 60,000 people queue up to watch the clubs because they’re bigots. It’s simply not true.

Get real glasgow is divided catholic or protestant

To be honest, if the worst that happens to me is a 12 year old showing off to his mates by telling me to f**k off or some wee druggie asking me for a light/bus fare (Why is it always bus fare? They live in the town ffs!) I can handle that. The rest, the ones with the big reputations, as I said have bigger concerns.

the post referred to a young teenage girl not an alcoholic jock

I remember as a 10 year old being the only one in the house on a saturday afternoon, leaving the door open whilst nipping down the road to get the weeks meat from the butcher van, i could even pop next door before i got home, there was no worry of someone entering the house. Now, i’d never leave my door open, its always locked unless its very hot.

Trust me, and ask the older generation, we felt much safer years ago. Folk used to leave the milk money outside, who’d be in the right mind to do that nowadays.

You see, criminals were punished years ago, now they get away with it.

Love or hate Scottish football, nobody can deny that the Old Firm game has global appeal. Doubtless you’ll try though.

i dont have to try both clubs finances are accrued from religous bigotry

In other words, you can’t deny it so you’re finding another reason to have a dig?

not a dig its a fact
celtic fans rangers fans are bigots the respective clubs make money from the aforementioned bigots

Emma, I see your point and agree to an extent. Intimidation is a problem and I’d like to see something done about it. It’s not fair that honest law abiding citizens should be afraid or intimidated. Going back to the topic of the post though, what can the government do about that, lock up anyone who intimidates anyone else?

From what I understand from the original post, whoever she feels scared by hasn’t given her any other reason to fear them other than ‘it’s a bit scary’

There’s people in this town I hate walking past cos I know they have a reputation, but that’s not reason enough for them to be locked up. If I were to be attacked, that’s different but until then I do my best to avoid them. They don’t bother me if our paths cross though, never have done (apart from one occasion where I was asked by someone ‘Got a light for my cigarette mate?’)but they have a reputation that suggests they could.

    its called forward planning

would anyone think it wise for a young teenager to walk alone into a town centre

    No.

So whilst its not safe, should government make it safe?
