am I the only person who thinks it was a remarkable lapse in judgement by a 26yr old man to have allowed himself to be put in this position?

Not in any way suggesting he deserved what happened, but a small amount of common sense on his behalf and it wouldnt have.

the mum made me cross, but it was heartbreaking that even a girl with so much support could not find access to the services she needed

just a couple of points that I think are relevant

brands relationship with the woman had been the subject of a joke running for weeks BEFORE andrew sachs agent booked him to appear (by phone) on the programme. Any agent worth their salt would have known this and briefed their client.
