I’ve met a fair few celebs over the years, and despite their status most have never been too overwhelmed in my presence

A great deal of them have been stars of stage and screen here in Ireland, but I have to say that the most warm and engaging “celeb” I’ve ever met is the mighty Sir Ian McKellen.
He was over in Dublin in the mid 90s promoting his excellent screen adaptation of RICHARD III and was guest of honour at a special screening followed by a Q & A session. I had bagged myself tickets to this through a newspaper and it was a dream come true for any film geek.
Any preconceptions of a stuffy, ego driven theatre thespian were soon obliterated by this charming, self deprecating, extremely witty man who spent at least two hours fielding questions and relaying stories. It was a wonderful, intimate occasion.

Imagine my utter delight when it was revealed a couple of years later that this guy would be playing Gandalf in the movie version of THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

Actually I had a lovely chance encounter at Heathrow with Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing in Dallas) He was at the perfume counter……and I have to own up to maneuvering myself to standing next to him in the queue…… so maybe I am….

    ****Starstruck*****

He was lovely by the way :D

    Nice one Mrs T!

I remember crying when Bobby died in DALLAS..
(I was quite the sensitive teen  Twilight had nothing on me for angst!)

Mind you, I cried even more when he returned the following year.
    That was just embarrassing.

Now you know how I felt when Alison Moyet died then came back to life a few months ago!!

    Uh huh kenty..
In saying that, she did have a song called Love Resurrection.
Guess it was no big surprise
    O:)

Sorry, not into all this “I saw a celebrity” nonsense. Can’t understand ppl who get star struck.

I like totally agree.. Although I did see my reflection in a mirror one day and was mighty impressed 8)

I guess you get your fair share of “Wows” etc when you’re out n about huh?
Y’know.. What with you being a Panda n all?

I disguise myself in public Pepper by wearing dark glasses 8)

I’m not one to use my fame to my advantage to get ppl to pander to my needs. I dont like a big fuss so I usually get the furrier to come to my home when I need a new outfit as I am rather shy and modest and I simply abhor diva behaviour in the rich and famous. :P

A Panda who doesn’t tolerate pandering.
    Impressive 8)
As for the whole “furrier” gig.. Well.. I’ll take your word on that one .. Erm.. Very 1970s

Still.. Admirable modesty on your part.. But what if Simon Cowell came calling? What then?
