Aah, but may I controverisally suggest the first Black Sabbath album (innovatively titled “Black Sabbath”) was more influential in the genre of what is now affectionately called Heavy Metal. Apart from the seminal title track, it featured N.I.B and The Wizard and set a tone, energy and depth that few would ever reach again.
Released in Feb 1970, it had such a SOUND. Led Zep had communication breakdown, these guys had a whole album. You will not hear another album like this.
Even today theorists talk about avoiding this album due to its flatted fifths and tritonus scale- it was, they claimed, “the devil in music”.
Paranoid broke the band into the worldwide senation they became, but this album “made” them.
In my opinion
