Lots of people have ‘sacred cows’ that are beyond reproach.

With all those cows around, sounds like we need a barbeque. :P

I Hear an Army, which was quoted at the beginning of this thread, was put to music by Samuel Barber. There are a couple of youtube versions, but I don’t think they do the song, or poem, justice.

SOMETIMES A MAN STANDS UP DURING SUPPER

Sometimes a man stands up during supper
and walks outdoors, and keeps on walking,
because of a church that stands somewhere in the East.
And his children say blessings on him as if he were dead.

And another man, who remains inside his own house,
dies there, inside the dishes and in the glasses,
so that his children have to go far out into the world
toward that same church, which he forgot.

Apparently, in ancient Paedomarian, Niribu means “to glitter.” It was once believed that the inhabitants of Niribu were Hermaphrodites, but current intel shows this to be erroneous. At least, that is according to the second line of Alan Ginsburg’s poem “Neary Booze;” which alludes to the fact that Niribu was actually colonized my memebers of NAMBLA in the 1960, with Gary Glitter as its figure head. No pun intended.
