I remember as a nipper watching on MotD or the ITV Sunday one an Arsenal v Birmingham game (70’s). In the days when you needed to decapitate someone in order to get a booking, Trevor Francis clapped the ref for giving him a free kick and duly got booked. It made quite a fuss that weekend.
