Emma, I’ve already explained the benefits that we gain from being part of Europe, most of all via trade. If most of our exports go to Europe
But most of our exports don’t go to Europe.
then it makes sense for us to be part of Europe otherwise we wouldn’t benefit from the common trade agreements and this would make our exports less competitive.
Sounds good till you look a bit deeper, the mainland countries are flooding our home market yet are reluctant to import our products
Countries within the EU would just import products from our EU competitors instead. That would mean British business would suffer and could lead to job losses.
Rubbish, the EU imposes harsh import tariffs on imports from outside the EU, that effectively blocks countries who do want to trade with us.
The EU is becoming insular, and isolationist, that leads to stultification of trade and progress.

2 November, 2006 at 4:28 pm #244411I can speak both French and Russian as well as my native English – you try learning Russian sometime..Don’t tell me you had to learn it, surely you would automatically know the language…You expect others to.My remarks are not racist at all – the only racism is coming from the likes of Tiler    – who seems to depise this country and it’s Government… only because it allows people such as yourself to live here..- yet is quite happy to take all the handouts too !!…I’ve earned them sonny, you pay your dues you get your rewards.
2 November, 2006 at 3:18 pm #244389This is England surely their first language must now be English – if they have moved here permanently
Drivel seems to think that as soon as you set foot in this country that a magical thing occurs, you can speak English without having to learn it.
Grow up sonny, put mind in gear before opening mouth.
You think all ex-pats can speak Spanish, get real.
19 October, 2006 at 9:46 am #244366For those who think she shouldn’t be teaching at the school.
Many of the 529 boys and girls aged seven to 11 at Headfield Church of England Junior are from ethnic backgrounds where English is not the first language .
Note C of E school, so seems religion is not the issue, just dress code.
19 October, 2006 at 9:26 am #245114Why bother with classes for clowning, put them in the public gallery at the House of Commons.
Plenty of examples.16 October, 2006 at 4:20 pm #244404Dear old Drivel
Always guaranteed to be the first with racist rubbish, just like all the ex-pats in Spain in their ghettos.14 October, 2006 at 4:28 pm #244400When you join a class, you do so to learn, not hold a general discussion with all and sundry, a case of sour grapes I think. after all one did speak English and offered to “discuss”, maybe it was beneath her to talk to these “foreigners”.
