Sorry to interrupt but can I just point out that the horse doesn’t do all the work. There is a lot of skill and training involved on the riders part. The horse “performs” if you like but it requires years of training and dedication.

This is true, but I was responding more the the title of the shared video, which claims the text mesage caused him to commit suicide.
Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. It is not a normal behaviour.
Parents are responsible for both the physical and mental health of their child, i’m not sure why this would be a contraversial…[Read more]

Drac… It isn’t as simple as just blocking the number. He saw these people every day, the bullying was relentless.
Your comment that he was probably mentally ill is kinda silly, are you saying only mentally ill people commit suicide? Even if he was mentally ill, it is still a tragic example of just how deeply being bullied can affect…[Read more]

Gymnastics definitely requires an abnormal level of physical ability and skill, as does ice dancing.
I wouldn’t really call them sports though, as the winner is determine by a process that is too subjective for my liking (maybe competative art would be a better term, I don’t know).
Equestrian events are a strange case, as the horse is…[Read more]

Equestrian events are a strange case, as the horse is effectively the one being scored on performance, not the human

So let assume that men’s tenis generates more revenue from advertising because more people watch it. To pay men and women the same you either have to pay women more than they earn, which wouldn’t happen because it’s operating at a loss. Or you pay the men less, where would you suggest the leftover money goes?

Sport is a context of physical ability and skill, that is inherantly masquline.

The text message compeled him to do it?
I wish I lived in this magical fantasy universe that other people seem to sometimes.
I don’t know the exact details of this case, but he probably killed himself because he was mentally ill. Of course the bully bares some responsiblity in agitating it, but his parents also failed to identify the state of…[Read more]

Prize money should be equal to how many people watch the event, that’s where the money that is awarded comes from. If one gender or the other is unable to attract viewership then they are worth less (within the context of the sport) and should be paid accordingly.
No two people are equal

You guys are so funny
While, as a woman, I agree that generally we are physically weaker than men, that doesn’t make us inferior.
You guys went out hunting, defended us from predators, while we sat around the fire, safe and warm, cooking. All we had to do was feed you and partake in sex now and then. Who’s really the inferior…[Read more]

I’m not implying anything, I’m just exploring ideas here.
If women are physically unable to compete equally then it makes senses to seperate the tournaments according to gender. I’m struggling to express what I mean here, so forgive me.
Men are physically capable of playing five sets, it pushes them to their limits, for women it’s three. Both…[Read more]

I have no interest in tennis, know nothing of the pay structure so I cant make an informed argument for or against in all fairness.
If men are more capable physically, in strength and endurance, and women played the same amounts of sets, would the women not be working harder just to keep up?
You could argue women deserve more as they are at a…[Read more]

Maybe empathy was the wrong choice of word. I was thinking particularly of dressage, women generally tend to dominate that sport, build up better relationships with the horses.
The equal pay thing, I get where you’re coming from but if you accept women are weaker and not capable of playing the same amounts of sets, are you not discriminating…[Read more]

Don’t be ageist.
Seriously though, I agree that (generally) women are physically weaker, our brains are wired differently.
Should female tennis players ger paid less? No. If you accept the argument women are weaker then they are playing to their limit, are they not? Pay them less and you penalise them for their gender.
My thoughts on sport…[Read more]

Interestling thread this.
Biologically men are physically stronger, faster reactions and so on. They need them, they were the hunters, fighters. I don’t think it’s sexist to say that most men are stronger and faster.
There will always be exceptions though.
