To my knowledge Rumi was a passionate believer in art, poetry and song. And the protagonist of my post was one of the great British Blues / Punk vocalists, singing from personal experience of psychiatric nursing, and from drug counselling work on the famous Soho Project. All of which makes your ‘idiocy’ remark rather unfortunate although I probably missed something that only you know.

And while I’m on the whole Persian mystic vibe, maybe Rumi would say that judgementalism defeats us. That each opinion was of equal value or summat. I might be wrong of course but if he was posting on message boards at this juncture I don’t believe, imho, that he would have posted what you did.

I’ve attempted endless jottings, and screwed each one up in frustration, thinking them self-indulgent and trite. They never made a waste paper basket big enough for me. So I live by the Golden Rule and try and treat others as I’d like to be dealt with myself.

Much of it will be spent scraping ice and unsuccessfully attempting home-made Baileys. I’ll also spend a lot of time queueing in big commercial queues to spend money on commercial stuff I don’t really need.

Heroes and Villains

The act of living gives us heroes left right and centre. You just need to phase out the Hollywood Action thing..

I’m talking about district nurses, interesting uncles, inspiring teachers and that quiet neighbour opposite. It all depends on the situation or particular crisis involved, people are funny like that. Life is full of suprises.

But of course, no . . . . . . . . definitely not Harriet Harman.

Other sites keep positing who the equivalent to the Beatles would be NOW. You know, a current band that your grandmother would know. Most seem to answer Radiohead but I think it would be some Beatles tribute outfit . . . .

You have to search t’internet for real originality these days. Some of them even write their own stuff.
