I thought coathanger was female from the first episode: nothing to do with crotch-fixation or any subsequent developments. More something that chimed with the way the women wrote in the room compared to the men. Whether I’m right or not is anyone’s guess.

As to being ‘scorned’ I’d say coathanger, although ascerbic, writes very differently from scorned women in JC and presents Jokecliffe as a character in an established fiction. Joker himself, on here and in the room, does seem to aim direct insults at the same few people, so perhaps not a woman (for all I know) but more the kind of pointed behaviour of the scorned.

Coathanger’s earlier posts covered a wide range of JC characters, the focus on Joker is relatively recent and has been explained in terms of anger about Joker’s reported behaviour. But I agree with Panda in that for me the writing doesn’t have its original spark, but then it’s no longer something new and I’m not big on nether regions in fiction.

    “Difficult second album syndrome” perhaps?

Having been on the end of Joker’s ire, I can appreciate what might happen when someone doesn’t take a step back from anger. I hope coathanger, whoever he/she is, continues to write as I still find it compulsive.

    The mind boggles.

Leaving aside my attempts at profundity, where would British comedy be without the nether regions and their functions or non-functions? In that respect Coathanger patriotically maintains a grand tradition. Long may it continue! (even if I have to read it with one eye closed)

Well I do think it’s true that whatever you say about someone says at least as much about you as it does about them. Scary for all of us, eh?

You’re forgetting one thing though, I haven’t written numerous stories on here about Joker’s crotch, merely read them. I am not the creative artist behind this “wonderful” satire, I am an observer.

“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter. The sitter is merely the accident, the occasion. It is not he who is revealed by the painter; it is rather the painter who, on the coloured canvas, reveals himself.”
Basil Hallward, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde.

I was using “you” in the generic sense Panda and referring to everything we write on these boards. So your Hallward quote is still apposite.

I agree…. if people dont like who we are thats thier problem

As long as ‘Who we are’ is not the same as “what we do” and as long as ‘people’ are being unreasonable.

Otherwise, if what we do is hurting others then what people dislike about might be worth changing, so our stars might shine even brighter.

Im not quite sure how long this thread has been here . I have only just found it. As far as I am concerned it is disgusting.

eve, I could be wrong, but I guess you’re lucky not to have been adversely targeted by Joker. He’s thrown away his chances of support or sympathy from a good number of people who wouldn’t usually find the subject matter of coathanger’s latest opus palatable.

I have seen a few say “he’s been fine towards me” or something similar and although I wish they would at least recognise his impact on others, that is, of course, their right.

He’s been openly and repeatedly abusive and even threatening in the room and in PC to me and number of others. I’ve been spared his work outside the room as far as I know, but if even half the stories are true, he’s goes far beyond robust mischief.

This isn’t ‘t1t for tat’ in any way. I’ve recognised some of his more positive qualities in previous postings, expressed regret that they are sometimes eclipsed by unpleasantness and tried to appeal to his better nature, to no avail.

I could be wrong, but his plain speaking leaves little room for doubt.

Personally I found this story enough of a parody to maintain the humour level of previous offerings. My imagination won’t let me enjoy vivid portrayals of grubbiness and smelliness and at my stage of life prostate trouble is something about which I am supposed to be concerned, so it didn’t trigger my funny bone like coathanger’s previous items. But I read it as a work of fiction with the more savage passages implausible enough to be funny. Of course if there is more truth in it than I thought then it might well cross a line. But I really don’t know.

I guess Joker will do as before, deny any upset, wait for it to subside then write something which, in the absence of more hurtful experiences of him, will make him appear to be ‘able to take a joke at his own expense’ and thus an OK guy in some people’s book.

    . . . and so it goes on . . . .
