We’ve remarked on these boards before that footy players could learn much from the conduct on the field of rugger players.

Could it be said that we the supporters could also learn a lesson from the crowds at cricket matches? Wouldn’t it be good if footy supporters politely applauded good play and goals from the opposition whilst still properly displaying our passion for our own teams?

The seeds are there, I think. I remember Ronaldo of Real Madrid being given a standing ovation from Man Utd fans whilst being subbed towards the end of one Champions League match. I remember Terry Henry being warmly applauded for his performance at Pompey during one FA Cup tie.

Is it possible that we can effect the changes in our methods of support that would make such instances common? Do we want to? I think it would set us apart as a nation and reflect our Corinthian national identity and heritage.

    What do you all think?
