An Iranian court-ordered the blinding of an Iranian man as punishment for throwing acid on a woman who spurned him has been postponed, but heated debate continues over his crime and such “eye for an eye” punishments.

The woman who was very pretty lost an eye and has terrible scarring, she is not recognisable from her previous pictures…she said she would be happy to administer the punishment herself.

Its often said we are far too lenient in this country and that prisons are not tough enough. So for this sort of evil premeditated crime is an “eye for an eye” acceptable?

    anc

If you didn’t get caught you wouldn’t get punished? :?

No, never. I cannot imagine how his victim must feel. His crime was dreadful. But there is no excuse for the state to commit dreadful crimes as well.

    Hell Yeah!!!!

Im sure if it was your family member you would feel the same. If anyone did that that to anyone i loved i would want retribution.

One of my old school mates was killed by a drunk driver, he was 17 at the time and the driver got a fine and a 2 yr driving ban…please tell me where the justice is in that??

Also look at Ian Huntley..killed two little girls, their families will suffer forever and hes in prision having guards sent out to buy him a certain chocolate bar as there wasnt any in the prison tuck shop…wot the fk was that about??

We are far too lenient and into human rights and political correctness to dish out any proper punishments…if you cant do the time dont do the crime!! Simples..!!

Being too lenient is one thing, an eye for an eye is something else altogether.

Yes I would want to see justice done, but the kind of justice that a civilised society hands out. Once you descend to the depths of an eye for an eye it becomes increasingly difficult to spot the criminal.

I dont agree with an eye for an eye justice but I must admit I think we need to be more creative with our punishments. For me its not enough just to take this mans liberty or money… the crime is simply too evil to forgive it so easily.

I’m not sure what the solution is but the present system does not seem to work does it. Please dont talk to me about rehabilitation for a crime like this, it wont wash as far as I’m concerned. Anyone can say sorry and I wont do it again, his victim will suffer for life…. so what punishment should he be given?

Gosh on my soapbox today :?
