Had to laugh when I saw that Worall Thompson is blaming his shoplifting on abuse he suffered as a child. It took him long enough to come up with that old cookie… to be honest maybe if he had a few more cuffs around the ear when he was a lad… it might have made him think twice about stealing as an adult.

Does anyone buy that it could be the cause????… What about personal responsibility?

Seems to me parents get the blame for everything now… even when their 50+ year old son goes off the rails….

Maybe he did it for the thrill as im sure hes not skint.

I remember being caught stealing a bag of barley sugars from tescos in the 1970s, it didnt help that i tripped up running out the door and was led by two men to the back office.I put it down to my upbringing, it was either that or the LSD.

I’m torn on this one Mrs T ….

I’m not a head doctor .. but you would assume that anyone of his ‘standing’ would have taken the opportunity he has been given and cherished them after a poor upbringing , if that was in fact the case … after getting ‘one up’ on life I cant imagine wanting to throw that away!

Right across the news we see people blaming their up bringing for their behaviour …sometimes cases far worse than this!

I don’t get it …. why if someone has had such an awful start … would they then not want to break free from that and make the most for themselves and their own later in life?

The thing is with Anthony Worall Thompson………it wasn’t the first time he had done it……..he had been watched four times and was knicked on the fifth………..so don’t waste your sympathy on this guy as he knew exactly what he was doing and why.

Can’t stand him or any of these so called “celebrity chefs.”

The human race has survived quite well up until their advent and we will survive long after their demise.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

One down, how many more to go? :D

    Love this from 2D TV:

I wonder how many of ‘Joe Public’ would have been allowed to do it five times before getting lifted?

I’d like to put all celebrity chefs in a great big stew and feed them to some lions or tigers.

Or any big cat, I’m not fussed which. :D

Ummm…if it’s all down to his childhood, why has he only just started shoplifting? Or has he been doing it all his life and only just been caught?

I’d be far more impressed by someone saying yes, I did it, there is no-one to blame except me, regardless of what’s going on in my life I am responsible for my own actions. So few people are prepared to take personal responsibility these days, everyone looks for somewhere else to lay the blame.

I wonder what blame his children will lay at his door in years to come?
