I’ve used the same anti-virus software for years but over the last 6 months it’s let me down badly twice…the last time it let through a virus that has killed my pc for good.

So, I now have a laptop, kindly donated by a friend, which has an out of date version of McAfee on it.

I’m really behind the times on anti-virus software – I know I don’t want Norton, I’ve had that in the past and it brought my pc grinding to a halt and was a nightmare to remove.

Any techie geeks out there who would like to make a recommendation?

    Much appreciated!

I used the pre-installed Norton software when I first got a computer, and all seemed fine. (I would not use McAffee they used that at work and had loads of problems) when the trial of Norton ran out I installed the free AVG software, thinking that everything was fine,

I asked for advice on here several years ago and it was recommended that I use Kaspersky Internet Security I have done so for at least 12 years now and everything runs perfectly, also when you purchase it you have options for the number of computers and how long you wish to protect them for, and by paying a small premium you can get the automatic reload function, if you have to delete the software for any reason, or you change laptops, you can reload it again and again, for the duration of your license.

when I eventually installed Kaspersky it found over 30,000 anomolies and phising viruses on my computer that the Norton and AVG free software had missed.

    Kaspersky has the following features:- Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Anti-phishing, Anti-spam,
Anti-rootkit, Anti-banner, Safe Money, Automatic exploit prevention, Two-way firewall, Parental controls, System watcher & rollback, Application control, URL Advisor, Instant safety checks, Virtual keyboard, Secure keyboard (for use if you want to enter sensitive information like passwords and login details) Free technical support.

Explanations of some of these features are:-
    Unique Safe Money Technology
Provides additional layers of protection during financial transactions, such as online banking and shopping, and using payment systems.

    Innovative Hybrid Protection
Combines innovative, cloud-based technologies with advanced antivirus protection to ensure you’re always safe from the latest threats.

    Identity & Privacy Safeguards
Uses the latest cloud data, anti-phishing technologies and a secure keyboard mode to keep your personal data from being stolen.

    Dangerous Website Alerts
Advises you of the safety of search result links, and blocks malicious and phishing websites.

    Advanced Parental Controls
Helps you ensure your children are safe and responsible online while they’re surfing the web, gaming and enjoying social networks.

    Safe Social Networking
Ensures your Facebook, MySpace and Twitter accounts won’t receive malicious links or software from your friends.

All the features above can be set to your own specific choice.

I cannot emphasise how good this internet security is and it does not cost much.
