Well who is it and why?

    No particular order:

    The Big O

His sheer vocal range, the highest vocal, octave range ever.

    Elvis

    Elvis

    Good, deep vocal range.

    Freddie Mercury

Far better than anyone ever. Listen to his vocals on Under Pressure.

    Luciano Pavarotti.

Not just his wonderful voice but his presence and larger than life personality… you could never ignore Pavarotti… has to be up there.

    Elton John….

Maybe not the best voice but I love his songs and his story telling when he sings them… could listen to him all day.

    Freddie Mercury

If Freddie was on stage no matter what else was going on… all eyes would be on him… again its about delivery… his voice wasn’t perfect but when Freddie sang a song he lived it.

Jen, it’s a circus top called Roy Orbison…and he does have an amazing voice.

Could I add -the Bob Dylan of the 1960s?

Yes I can so add him!!!

I also really liked Joni Mitchell, whose voice became richer over time.

    Somethng wrong there, isn’t there?

    oh, yes, best male vocalist…hmmm..

    Gary Barlow.

I spent five months in 1998 travelling to and from north Wales with a Gary Barlow cd for company.

For me Joe Cocker singing ‘You are so beautiful’ and how I feel about Helen just can not be beaten – the raw emotion he gives to his songs is incredible

Also Meatloaf’s Bat out of Hell is a song that still causes goosebumps

Mind you there are several other songs I could add to the list
