Our ‘other’ computer has gone very slow – 10 mins to even start up.
It’s a 1998 gateway, used to be V.good. Less than 1/2 of disk space used up, have cleared all unwanted stuff off etc. Computer refuses to defrag though.

Any ideas (before my next trip to the council tip) to save this poor old compy.

We have a lot of competition over who’s going to use the Dell that I’m on now!

    Defrag in Safe Mode.

from past experiance, i say the computer is trying to load too many things on start up.. there is a command you type in at the run command on windows.. forgot what it was though.. no help i know, but it lets you uncheck boxs of things you don’t want loading up on startup

Get everthing ya want to CD, and then format the Hard Drive. Best way to clear all the sh.it mate

You are quite right they are pretty useful Soulie but still not as reliable as a burnt cd. If its a bog standard burn you cant do anything with the stuff on the cd. However the pen drives you can. At work pen drives have replaced floppys for us with more capabilities of carrying work about. But should not be trusted entirely, should have something else.
