Being a bit tubby ,podgy, overweight is well away from being obese though innit?

Are we on about obese fat slobs who have hanging chins that wobble when they nod their head or shake it?

    Or just slightly overweight people?

Someone called me fat once. He was a w@nker obviously, and prob coz he got a turndown coz i aint fat. Im just curvy and gorgeous!

I think the original poster has a lot of learning to do about the concept of attraction.

Firstly, men and women generally have different subconscious criteria for choosing a mate, even if the goal is nothing more than a one night stand. Back in the dawns of time when mere survival was a daily chore, evolution found a way to ensure humanity’s survival through the ages.

A woman’s chances of a successful pregnancy were greatly enhanced by physical attributes, such as the shape of her hips, the size of her breasts. Therefore men became genetically attuned to selecting a mate based primarily on her looks.

The chances of a woman and a baby surviving were more to do with how her mate could look after her.. a weak man would be usurped and a more dominant male could come in and kill the female or the baby or both. Therefore, qualities such as perceived physical power, confidence to deal with differing situations, leadership qualities, etc were nigh on essential for a woman to find in a male.

As we evolved we became more cognitive and rationalising and chose to thought of all sorts of possibilities for what a perfect partner should be. However, we cant reshape our genes, not in hundreds of generations.

Physical beauty is still of vital importance to men, even if they dont consciously realise they are assessing a woman’s baby-making potential.

For a woman, a man who inherently possesses the qualities of an alpha male within this new society we live in, populated by boys raised by women and brainwashed by feminist articles and television programming is a rare catch indeed and something she will instinctively desire.

Isnt it ironic, how in the age we live in, women have gained equality in many areas (and rightly so) but this has just caused a decrease in masculinity in men… the very quality women need to find in their partners?

Of course there will be many people who will argue that many people can and have broken the gentic constraints ive mentioned above. Of course thats true – we’re all unique individuals with free thought and differing expectations and values. Thats what makes us all so interesting and intriguing.

After all that waffling, my point is that whilst someone suggesting a fat person is less physically desirable may be typing in a politically incorrect fashion, it is in fact a truism of our species that will probably take many more thousands of years for us to evolve out of.

To be slightly serious for a moment Cath, I was fat once as well. I weighed 18 1/2 stone but luckily at 6’3” it didn’t show up too much and playing Rugby every week kept it sort of under control. When I stopped playing at 51 I put on a bit more weight and got quite porky.

It was when I looked closely at photos of myself in a swimming costume I realised that I needed a good few swipes with a bacon slicer. So I resolved to get myself back into a sensible shape. It is actually really easy. You simply eat less. That’s all there is to it.

forget about faddy diest. forget about calorie controlled foods, weight watchers, pille, potions, injections and all that rubbish. You simply only eat as much as your body can consume by the next meal time.

So I don’t eat breakfast, small snack for lunch (when I can be bothered) and one course for supper. Works for me. it’s all down to how strong minded you are. Mind over burger as it were.

Now I am down to a more sensible 13 stone and have been for several years.
