    Madonna’s giant cross ‘offensive’

    Concert footage
The Church of England has criticised Madonna’s appearance on a cross to kick off her latest tour in Los Angeles.
“Why would someone with so much talent seem to feel the need to promote herself by offending so many people?” said the Church in a statement.

Madonna performed the ballad Live To Tell while suspended from a giant mirrored cross on the opening night.

David Muir of the Evangelical Alliance also accused the singer of “blatant insensitivity”.

“Madonna’s use of Christian imagery is an abuse and it is dangerous,” he said.

“She should drop it from the tour and people need to find their own means of expressing their disapproval.”

Madonna’s spokesperson was not available for comment at the time of publication.

This is not the first time the pop star’s concerts have upset the Church.

In 1990, the Pope called for a boycott of the Blond Ambition tour, in which Madonna simulated masturbation during Like A Virgin.

The video for Like A Prayer also brought condemnation from groups claiming it was blasphemous.

The 51-date Confessions world tour kicked off in Los Angeles on Sunday. It will reach Britain in July.

Do groups of these Church of England whingers sit around and wait for her next tour, to see what they can moan about now

They deffo need to get out more

Im sure shes sang that song laying on a cross before a clip is on IN BED WITH MADONNA im sure of it but dont quote me. Madonna is quite religious and i dont think she sets out to offend church goers myself.

It’s like roy Chubby Broon – he offended the folks at Bedlington Club a few years ago . He started his act – and pointed to the statue of Christ on the Cross
at the back of the room “I see they got the bstrd who nicked the bandit then “

The folks were not amused – pml

Thats what she is all about she is Madonna, and has done all she can think of to shock people and wants to keep doing that. She thrives on being contravercial, and shocking the public. It must work after all she has made millions this way.

I personally like Madonna. I think she’s a strong woman and has stood the test of time in the entertainment industry. But I do not like the way she uses Catholicism’s symbols in order to promote her sexuality. If it’s not a big deal – then maybe she should use her religion (Kabbalah) as the statment and not disrespect symbols that we (Roman Catholic’s) hold dear.

Madonna has been goading the church since the 80’s….surely by now they should realise that being shocked and complaining is just going to get her more publicity?

She was braught up with a strict Catholic upbringing, and has rebelled against it for years. Being catholic myself I feel that she uses these icons to get back at the catholic church, for the way she was braught up.

Well I hope that she doesn’t get pissed off at Islam. If a few cartoons in a Danish newspaper can cause riots all over the Middle East, think what Madonna could do !!!!!
