Which was the more horrible act of terror, 9/11 or the invasion of Iraq?

9/11 killed about 3,000 people and destroyed a building. The invasion of Iraq killed more than 600,000, destroyed the irreplaceable records and artifacts of an ancient civilization, and left a nation of more than 20 million desperate for work, clean water and electricity.

It should be stressed that although 9/11 came first, there were no connections between these events, except that the one was used as an excuse for the other.

(Then that was a connection eh ??? …. Ed)

As far as the Yanks are concerned, 9/11 was far worse, not because of the actual event that happened, which was minimal compared to what’s actually happened in Iraq, but because all those highly-paid agents in the security services never saw this coming and were made to look like a complete bunch of muppets.

They probably never got over the embarrassment and loss of face at getting suckered like that, so someone had to pay. If all those ‘special agents’ had spent more time in doing their jobs properly instead of sitting around stuffing their faces with Big Macs and drinking coffee, who knows, they might have prevented the whole episode. Just a thought!

The difference is that one was an act of terrorism and the other an act of war.

Both are bad but terrorism should never ever be condoned by anyone. We cannot claim to have intelligence over our governments and secret services. They in their opinion will have had just reasons to go to war, no one goes to war for the hell of it.

9/11, The london tube and bus bomings and the Glasgow airport acts of terror in my opinion is far worse.

It’s well known that the US Intelligence Agencies knew an attack was coming. It’s naive to think that they didnt know it was coming. The question is why they didnt do anything with those warnings.

On a sidenote listen to George Bush anytime he holds a Press Conference. He’ll mention Al-Queda in Iraq about a thousand times in any given interview. He’s trying to make it seem like it’s Al Queda that are the major players resisting in Iraq.
They arent anything of the sort. Theyre a very small percentage of the resistance in Iraq, but it makes the War look more just, and all the Country Yockels will swallow it.

Neither 9/11 nor the invasion of Iraq were as bad as the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima or Nagasaki. These remain the two greatest single acts of wickedness the world has ever seen. Yet our western civilisation has probably only survived because the bombs were dropped.

When Japanese Imperialism awakens from its slumbers then we will all be quaking in our boots.

It seems that although they knew something was afoot they didn’t have enough pieces to know what the picture on the jigsaw was, let alone complete it. The men taking flying lessons aroused suspicion but it was thought they were involved in drug smuggling.

As for suicide airliner hijackings, this was so far off the radar that nobody suspected it, although it had been attempted once before in 1993 when islamists hijacked an Air France plane and tried to get the pilot to fly it into the Eiffel tower.
