    ~Lady Of Shallot~

We know of her tale far and wide.
But do we know the other side?
    Of torturous nights and days
Waiting for her loved one to come home and stay

No word of him, seemed like years
A true curse next to flowing tears
Against a mirror never to stray
She weaved there as well as lay

Thinking he went for a noble cause
If she’d only known his many flaws
Never thought in a distant land
Another fair maiden could take his hand

Always trusted their love was true
Stood by it and believed he would too
    Alas, his foolishness did pass
Thru her heart a knife did dash

So she lay down in her distress
To float away from the cursed mess
    She floated down to Camelot
To once more see her Lancelot

Her heart could not take the pain
She sang to him all in vain
Before she rested at his feet
Life slipped away beat by beat

Until all that was left was her frozen shape
As on lookers gasped and gaped
Little did she know that at the shore
Her loveliness and innocence at one heart tore

A saddened lover cried and shook
Looking down to the life he took
Trying to comfort her in sleep
Kissing each cheek, he did weep

For in no more webs would she be caught
    This beautiful Lady of Shallot
