You really are for real aren’t you, Septic. No shame whatsoever. You ram your views down everyone elses throat and everyone else is “disrespectful” except for you, while you ram your views down everyone elses throat on a thread paying respect to the Manchester dead and injured, but which quite rightly got moved here. When the same conversation happened on the Jo Cox thread, you went off on one for weeks. Septics rules, do as I say, not as I do. As it types the same lines over and over again.
Gerry, if you can’t make anythng other than personal insults on a thread about the dead of manchester, then you’ll be ignored.
Others are making serious points here. The points may be wrong, but it’s too serious for personal insults.

You’d know all ABOUT personal insults, Septic. Known as slippery Septic for good reason. With your “liberal” use of “far right” insults and abuse on the Jo Cox memorial thread. Serious? Yes of course it is serious, when you decide. That’s what you patronizing liberals do. Meanwhile, you hijacked a “serious” thread offering condolences to the dead and injured, rammed your views down everyone elses throat, yet on the Jo Cox thread condemned people for making similar comments and act like butter wouldn’t melt in your mouth now. Well, Gerry, if you or anyone else think I hijacked a respect thread for an event as terrible as the Manchester bombings, then you must ask martin to either ban me or to alert me that I am no longer welcome here.
If someone is so disrespectful to the slaughter of children and innocents as to hijack a thread, then you have every right to ask that be done, and msartion would be morally justified in doing it.
If Martin agrees, I’ll be gone forever. I won’t revisit the site, I won’t come udner another name, I’ll unbookmark it, I won’t touch the site with a bargepole, believe me.
So if you’re serious and not turning the bombing into a disgusting jc slagoff, you should do that and then respect Martin’s decision as I will.

Of course, there is a real worry about radical terrorists who interpret Islam in a way which means slaughter.
Some Christians interpret the Bible to mean they can kill doctors at abortion clinics.
We can’t stop people interpreting religious texts in whatever way they choose. When it gets to crimes and atrocities such as those perpetrated by ISIS, then we have to take action in various ways, and these can’t always stop the atrocities.
But quoting chapter and verse in the way you do, without realising that it is usually interpreted in a very different way, is dangerous in itself.
You have to look at an individual verse in terms of the overall context.
That verse about ambushing people does not refer to kill all infidels wherever you find them. I don’t think there is anything in the Koran whihc says that. ISIS interpets the verse in that way, I’m sure.
But most Muslims don’t. And that’s what’s important.

You hijacked the condolence thread, not me, at the same time as you have abusively condemned others for doing so on the Jo Cox thread in the past, with your emotive logic, that somehow you are the wronged person, that somehow you are the innocent party. You are the “disgusting” creature, not me, who brought your seedy, narrow, limited, c waving, political views onto a condolence thread about dead children in Manchester and when pulled up on it did what you always do, sulk and make it all about you. You haven’t given blood, you haven’t donated to the various Manchester fund raisers, you haven’t done f all for the Manchester victims, everything you do on this site is for show and effect. The only person turning this thread into a child playground rant is Ge attempting to gain credibility by attacking posters rather than sticking on topic which sceptical does even though I disagree with many of his views.
The interpretation of the Quran is of course subjective but it still amounts to the same issue of huge numbers of people interpreting it in a way that causes carnage. I don;t see how many of those verses I have quoted which are direct ones from the book can be viewed in any way other than inherently damaging to any civilised society. If I was to suddenly announce tomorrow that I had founded a new religion based on the islamic values we have discussed of no tolerance to other “faiths” , regarding women as property , allowing numerous wives etc etc etc all written by a man purporting to be a messenger of God married to a 6 year old I would be ridiculed and ostracized . Yet wrap this up in the form of Islam and people are demonised as racist and ” islamaphobic” for treating this rubbish with the disdain it deserves… I’m proud to be islamaphobic and so should any right minded person. People often behave as sheep , hundreds of years ago the world was deemed flat , anyone saying otherwise was viewed bizarre – in the last 100 years hundreds of thousands if not millions of germans subscribed to a nazi regime which was regarded as ” normal”. Just because huge numbers follow or believe in a religion/ ideology doesn’t make it any less repugnant and suspect in x number of years people will be looking back at these current times with the same disdain and revulsion we look at swastikas.
