Why is there a “fear” to discuss religion in public nowadays?
Is there? I’ve not noticed. I have no fear about discussing religion, hence this thread :)
Now you mention it, perhaps the fear factor as I have seen it is probably more from the religious people who keep quiet for fear of being ridiculed, I have noticed that a few times.
jogger just ran past my house not saying his shorts were tight but I guessed his religion

Someone who preaches religion is not in the same category as a pedophile.
Discussion of opinion regarding religion is fine — attacking others for their beliefs (or lack of) — is not.
What if they believe you should be executed? Is that an attack on you, and should you? Should you be allowed to defend yourself?
This is a very good point made by Drac.
All those religions whihc start with the teaching of Moses – mosaic religions – preach that homosexuality is repulsive. That means Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Where they then go on to kill gays, then gays have a right to defend themselves, and they have a right to demand that others rally to their defence.
There is no argument when it comes to killing. It isn’t something which can be argued about, any more than you can reason with a gang which is giving someone a good kicking. It’s just done.
There should be no toleration of such practice. Quite the opposite.
The argument that homosexuality is repulsive can be taken up, and a reasoned thread on that would be very interesting.
Not all Christians think homosexuality is repulsive – there is a growing rebellion against the idea, in fact.
I don’t know about (religious) Jews and Moslems.

Good thread. I have no issue with anyones religion, however…it’s when a certain religion in particular,attempts to ram their religion down my throat that I get annoyed. I am, of course,referring to Jevhovas Witnesses. I have lost count of the times they have knocked on my front door,trying to hand me their leaflets. I’m not interested. I hasten to add, I’m not rude to them, I just tell them no thanks, I’m not interested and they leave.
Be whatever religion you want,worship whatever God you want, I dont care,but please dont try and force your beliefs on me. I dont do it to other people,so I would appreciate the same courtesy from them.

The post says that Religion is like a penis..you don’t push it on children.
The analogy is clear to all.
If you had said that religion is private. don#’t push it on children, then you would have made a good argument.
But the OP didn’t say that, did it?
Very heavy-handed smear technique. Guilt by association in the clearest possible way, and it’s dishonest to pretend otherwise.

i seem to of scared 2 Jevhovas Witnesses, one time, as i open the door and seen 2 of them, and i had 666 on my shirt, then i seen them both reverse, my cus is a Jevhovas Witness, it was odd as he is a vegan or something like that and one time a Jevhovas Witness. opened the door and was trying to make him join, then my cus, tried to make him become a vegan or whatever, then one day i seen him, and asked him what does he do now, he said he is a Jevhovas Witness.
ikr @Jane that is what i mean when religous people try and force us to join them, i dont like that at all, but that is the same as them chaity people asking for cash and homeless people asking for money, it pisses me off, as we have so many millionaires and bilionaires, and i have heard supposly a trillionaire, yet the common people have got people trying to donate to a chairty, or some tramp asking for cash, then get abusive when u say no, the world has big probs, but it is always the common people who try there best to help.
also people get triggerd by certian topics being talked about in jc and other chat rooms, and complain about what is being said, but tbh people need to understand people should have the right to have a opnion about whatever, and if people dont like that, then block or log out or ignore, dont complain about it.
