Jane, I agree with your point, but…

JWs are not alone.Christianity and Islam are the two missionary religions – they believe in conversion. That’s why their conflicts are bloody when it turns physical, from the Crusades to ISIS.

However, one thing you can say to them is no, or amusing variations, and they’ll go. I always tell the JWs that I belong to the opposition and close the door. Unlike ISIS, they won’t kill you.

As just not6hing points out, you have to develop a thick skin sometimes, but it’s part of the belief systems of evangelicals, charismatics etc that we all need to be converted. Not all Christians or Muslims believe that shouting at someone or knocking on their door is any good at converting people, but many do.

Something you have to put up with – like adverts for sugary foods.

Personally if I did believe in god I’d also have to believe in the devil.  If I were to believe both existed I’d deduce that they are the same entity.

I no longer believe in such things I cannot touch see feel or conquer up in my mind.

Hence why I don’t partake or entertain religious discussion as it irritates saddens and often makes me angry as really no one know better than anyone else.  All bores me rigid.

I’d rather stick with facts not heresay nonsense.

i am still ?ing why my dad had the alco shot, what was suppose to be for santa, also why was the presents hidden behind my mums makeup table mirror or under her shoes in the cupboard, dont santa have like a massive storage unit?

Santa Claus certainly seems to be the main idea of God held by people in this country.

Hence the anger when some loved one dies, or when something goes wrong, or when the meal is over-cooked. If there were a God, would he allow such pain???

Most people have a school-child’s view of daddy God and ickle Jeebus meek and mild. No wonder Dawkins and all the smarty-pants set of superiors like (ex) Hitchens, Grayling and Fry  don’t want to look at anything other than the biblical literalists. Small wonder that they go in for nemes such as the OP, often with themselves portrayed as masterminds with wise common-sense put-downs about religion.

Well, there are grown-up approaches to God, just as there are grown-up approaches to atheism. If you can’t deal with them, then best just not to think about it, maybe? Turn Pointless or the next Royal Wedding on instead. Fills a gap.
